More questions about zen patting?
Zen Patting is a relatively new holistic therapy in the UK.
Feel free to ask me a question if you can't find your answers here!
How should I book a session?
Please contact Haylin via email or WhatsApp to have a brief chat about the issues you want to focus on during the session and your availability.
I currently work at a calm and welcoming studio in Brixton. However I am happy to travel to other studios on discussion.
Once an appointment is scheduled a £20 deposit is required to secure the slot. For any cancellations or schedule changes, please give at least a week's notice; otherwise, your deposit will not be refunded.
For safety purposes, I do not travel to new clients' homes.
Do I need to prepare for my Zen Patting session?
You are encouraged to book a 20 min free consultation call with Haylin if you have never experienced Zen Patting before. You should wear soft, comfortable clothes for the session; belts and other hard pieces of clothing are likely to cause injury.
If you are booking a Zen Patting session in the evening, avoid showering afterwards and try to shower beforehand. Try to avoid attending the session when you are hungry or very full.
Zen patting is for you to reset, relax and heal. So for the it to be most effective, avoid drinking and staying up late after the session. You are likely to sleep very well afterwards!
Is Zen Patting a form of massage?
Zen Patting has similar effects to massage. It effectively releases muscle tension aids in lymphatic drainage and unblocks pathways. However, unlike with a traditional massage, the Zen Patting practitioner does not directly touch your skin. It doesn’t involve continuous skin contact or essential oils, which might cause sensitivity issues for some people. It feels more like a combination of energy healing, acupuncture and meditative deep relaxation. Zen Patting also often has stronger and longer-term effects than a massage session. As a traditional Chinese medicine practice, it targets a wider range of issues than usual massage. Including issues such as: musculoskeletal conditions, sleep disorders, mental health issues and chronic illnesses.
Are there any side effects?
As Zen Patting does not involve oils, medication or needles - It has no negative side effects. However, you might feel a mild ache in your spine if you have misalignment in certain areas. It will fade away as your body adjusts to the newly aligned position, and you will have a healthier, more aligned spine for the long term!
How much does it cost?
I believe health and well-being should be accessible to everyone. So I offer a sliding scale for my service:
The standard rate is: £65/1hr or £95/1.5hr session.
For low-income clients, including job seekers, emerging freelance creatives, NHS nurses and community workers there is a discounted rate of £45/1hr or £70/1.5hr session.
For first-time clients, I offer a discounted rate of £39/1hr for the first session, as a thank-you for your trust. If you refer/gift a session to a friend, both you and your friend can enjoy a 10% discount on one session.
For a package of three 1.5hr sessions - the standard price is £250 or £200 for people on a low income.
For 1-1 tutoring on building techniques and habits of maintaining wellness: £50/hour.
Why do you offer consecutive sessions?
After your first session you may want to book a few consecutive sessions to target and treat your specific issues in more depth.
This depends - if you want to quickly reset and relax after an intense work/life period, one 1.5hr session (whenever convenient) will be enough to leave you feeling invigorated.
If you want to treat chronic muscle issues in the back and shoulders, I recommend start with 3-5 sessions within one week. This should leave your muscles unknotted and easy to keep that way, as long as you don't fall back into old habits and bad postures. For some severe cases where the muscle issues has been developed for years, it would very likely need longer steady ongoing treatment for full recovery. You should experience the condition getting better within the first few sessions.
For any mild mental or physical issues. I suggest trying 3 sessions within the first week. If you find it helpful I can offer ongoing weekly sessions. As progress is made, you might want to follow-up with monthly sessions, or you might stop needing Zen Patting completely.
What else can I do to have a healthier body and mind?
Like all therapy, work is done on both sides. Whilst passively receiving Zen Patting would leave you feeling revived. The issues we are treating - be it tensions in your body or emotional imbalance, stem from a long-term lack of self-care.
To further your wellbeing beyond Zen Patting, I can also offer 1-1 coaching: On daily exercises that combine self-patting, and techniques from traditional Chinese medicine and martial art practices to release negative emotions and instil new energy. My goal is to help you recover your authentic and healthy self, to be free of unnecessary mental limitations, grounded, and balanced in life.
Who cannot receive Zen Patting?
People with internal bleeding conditions or severe osteoporosis should not take the Zen Patting treatment. Pregnant women are advised to only receive Zen Patting on their shoulders and legs.
